 | Kate Malloy
The Hill Times’ editor Kate Malloy joined the newspaper when it first started in October 1989 as news editor. Back then, the office was located in a two-room apartment in an old house in Ottawa’s Centretown neighbourhood and the newsroom was a one-person shop. Today, it's a block from Parliament Hill and is a much larger office. Over the years, Kate has broken countless national political news stories and has blazed trails in federal political reporting. She was named managing editor in 1993 and editor in 2001.
Each week, she leads a gritty, straight-up, fiercely independent, and no-holds-barred newsweekly driven by great reporting and great story-telling.
Kate holds a bachelor of journalism honours degree from Carleton University’s school of journalism in Ottawa. Prior to The Hill Times, she worked as a reporter and photographer at The Yellowknifer in Yellowknife, N.W.T., where she covered city hall, the courts, crime and police beats and wrote features and profiles.
Kate lives in Ottawa with her husband John and their daughters Anna Maria and Molly.
